TAB commissions Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Prevalje to be operated by HSE

Mežica, 10 July 2025 – TAB d.d. has successfully commissioned a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Prevalje. With a rated power of 1.325 MVA and a capacity of 2.2 MWh, the advanced system was developed and manufactured entirely by TAB. It represents a key technological milestone in supporting energy efficiency, sustainable development, and enhanced energy independence.

By the end of 2025, the operation of the system will be taken over by Holding Slovenske elektrarne (HSE), the parent company of the HSE Group and a leading driver of Slovenia’s green transition. HSE will manage the BESS remotely from its Control Centre, further highlighting the project’s importance as part of broader efforts to strengthen the Slovenian power system and the role of storage solutions in the green energy transition.

The BESS has been designed as a multi-purpose system that goes beyond just storing electricity. It serves as:

• a support system for TAB’s self-supply from its own solar power plant,
• a stabilizing element in the distribution electricity network,
• a demonstration and educational centre for those interested in modern battery storage solutions.
